When working in Dynamics or any database for that matter you may need to make a change to a table. Now backups are always a good thing to have, but backing up a complete database for a simple change in a table might be a bit much. One way I work around this is to create a backup of the table in question. This Quick Bite will show you how to accomplish this.
- With SSMS open start a new query.
- Enter the following SQL code
SELECT * INTO dbo.Your_Table_Name_BACKUP from dbo.Your_Source_Table_Name
- Execute the query by hitting F5.
You do not need to worry about making sure the backup table exist before creating the backup. If it does not SQL will create it for you when you run the code.
