Enabling Windows Search for Windows Server 2012 R2

I just recently made the switch to Windows Server 2012 R2 as my OS of choice for my workstation at here at the office.  Today I needed to find something buried in my email from earlier this year and when I went to search for it in Outlook 2013 I was greeted with the following message.  So this post will teach you about turning on the Search services in Windows Server 2012.

Features

In order to turn this on you must actually install the Windows Search Service from the Add Roles and Features portion of Windows Server 2012.  The first step is to open Server Manager and from the Dashboard page click on Add roles and features.

When you get to eh server selection screen choose your server and click on next.

The next step is to select Features and scroll down and find the Windows Search Service Feature.  Place a check in the box and click on next.

During the install the window should look something like the one below.  Once the installation is complete you should now have the option for search in Windows.
