Normally when I setup a VM I tend to keep it tied only to my local host this way I minimize the chance of doing something in our live production environment that might create what I call a “RUE’ which is short for Resume Updating Event. However there are some instances where I need to have a VM facing outward to the network for testing and so on.
Normally when I do this under the network adapter properties I simply set the connection type to Bridged and the VM is then handed a DHCP address. Then I got to wondering what the little box under that marked ‘Replicate physical network connection state’ was meant to do.
Well it turns out that if your building VM’s on a mobile device if you check this box when your computer gets a new IP address because you went home or out the VM will automatically get an updated IP as well.
